Drumming and percussion workshops for beginners

For all those of you who want to try out drumming, Section Rythmique regularly proposes drums initiation workshops in English for beginners.

These sessions offer an approach to drums and drumming. No musical skills are required.

 

I – Drumset

During the drumset workshop for beginners, you will discover a variety of sounds, techniques, and rhythms that are part of a drummer's world.

 You will learn about :

-       Basics : sitting position, holding the drumsticks, strokes,…

-       Independence and coordination

-       Rhythm and fills

-       Playing with music

-       Basics of rhythmic theory

-       Blues and Jazz rhythms

The sessions are divided into two 3-hour workshops. They take place in a fully equipped music studio.

II – Percussions 

During the percussion workshop for beginners, you will discover a variety of sounds and rhythm for the Djembe, and will enjoy playing with others, and experience the pleasures of musical interaction.

You will learn about :

-       Basics : sounds and positions

-       Rhythm and pulse

-       Playing with others

-       Improvisation

-       Polyrhythmics

-       Binary and ternary rhythms.

By the end of the session, you will have learned about rhythm, played in a group, learned how to improvise, and will be able to play a whole scope of various rhythms.
